You've started with an empty file, and you've re-installed KMM. Whilst this might not tie in with your report of the crash from your laptop, re-installing might not necessarily overwrite everything. So, for the sake of completeness, would you de-install KMM and then reload it. The only other thing I can think of is that you've installed or updated something else on your system/s that is interfering with/corrupting KMM.
