Dear Mehmet, > 1) Can you run "sudo apport-collect 2124226" while 6.8.0-63 is running?
Sure: |Please open this authorization page: | ( https://launchpad.net/+authorize-token?oauth_token=Zgb3hfl5Kr1lwmkL1SFK&allow_permission=DESKTOP_INTEGRATION ) |in your browser. Use your browser to authorize |this program to access Launchpad on your behalf. ...I did all that, and at 2025-10-06 02:00 I hit the "Yes" button on the "Send problem report to developers?" popup. (There might be an earlier report; when I tried to focus on the popup about 5 minutes earlier, the popup disappeared, and therefore I ran the apport-collect again.) > 2) Can you try our latest release (6.8.0-85) and let us know if it fixes > this issue? The following commands should do that; > > sudo apt update > sudo apt upgrade I did that, and after changing back /etc/default/grub + GRUB_DEFAULT=0 - GRUB_DEFAULT="Advanced options for Ubuntu>Ubuntu, with Linux 6.8.0-63-generic" and sudo update-grub and rebooting, and testing (uname -r printed indeed 6.8.0-85-generic) ...the mic does not work with 6.8.0-85-generic > 3) If not, can you try our hwe kernel (6.14.0-33.33)? And let us know if > this fixes the issue? > sudo apt install linux-generic-hwe-24.04 My mic does not work with that kernel (uname -r printed: 6.14.0-33-generic) either. I had to switch back to 6.8.0-63-generic, with that particular kernel being hard-coded in my /etc/default/grub -- I am very nervous about that. Just out of curiosity: even if 6.14.0-33 had worked, how would I have changed my machine (my /etc/default/grub or whatever) so that "the up-to-date default" works with my mic? 6.14.x sounds like very much ahead of 6.8.x. Since I am unemployed I have no longer computing support. My laptop is my only tool to find a new job. If it stops working, I am f***ed. What would be your advice? Many thanks, Volker On Thu, 2 Oct 2025 at 11:25, Mehmet Basaran <[email protected]> wrote: > Ok. Let me clarify.
