Hello Volker, Thanks for reporting this. Since, there are quite a number of kernels in between, I need to couple things to find the change causing this.
1) Can you submit system information like you did, except this time with the working kernel (6.8.0-63) instead. 2) Can you try the hwe kernel and let us know if the issue is solved by that (sudo apt install linux-generic-hwe-24.04). I am trying to understand if this issue is specific to realtek devices and it seems 6.14 didn't receive any major updates since 6.8 Thanks in advance -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2124226 Title: mic stoped working after update from 6.8.0-63-generic to 6.8.0-79-generic; mic works aga in after booting the older 6.8.0-63-generic Status in linux package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: * I have an ASUS model M409D M409DA-EK181T SN: L1N0CV086853039 CN: 6STN MFD: 2020-01 * It has a Realtek ALC256 codec with an Intel DSP % arecord -l **** List of CAPTURE Hardware Devices **** card 1: Generic_1 [HD-Audio Generic], device 0: ALC256 Analog [ALC256 Analog] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 * my Ubuntu version is sb_release -a Distributor ID: Ubuntu Description: Ubuntu 24.04.3 LTS Release: 24.04 Codename: noble * mic stoped working after update from 6.8.0-63-generic to 6.8.0-79-generic; mic works again after booting the older 6.8.0-63-generic ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 24.04 Package: linux-image-6.8.0-63-generic 6.8.0-63.66 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 6.8.0-63.66-generic 6.8.12 Uname: Linux 6.8.0-63-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.28.1-0ubuntu3.8 Architecture: amd64 AudioDevicesInUse: USER PID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/controlC1: vstrom 2114 F.... wireplumber /dev/snd/controlC0: vstrom 2114 F.... wireplumber /dev/snd/seq: vstrom 2109 F.... pipewire CRDA: N/A CasperMD5CheckResult: pass CurrentDesktop: ubuntu:GNOME Date: Wed Sep 17 03:40:59 2025 InstallationDate: Installed on 2022-06-16 (1189 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 22.04 LTS "Jammy Jellyfish" - Release amd64 (20220419) MachineType: ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC.
