Title:
Linux forces a poweroff during heavy use (instead of killing top app,
it lets the CPU overheat, losing the entire session)

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
This is happening on my Dell laptop after Dell's official service
representative changes some hardware components, including the
motherboard. Some errors seem to indicate ACPI EC (power control) is
not responding. I would like to know if this is an EC/motherboard
  issue, or some firmware/bios/kernel issue.
