You are absolutely right there is no linux-modules-
extra-6.8.0-55-generic installed.

And you are right in regards that installing it solves the issue for me.

Any guesses about where it all gone wrong? I mean, the package
description tells me that it probably should be installed automatically
and it didn't work for me. Is it because I messed up my setup somewhere?
What would be the proper package to install?

  No usb or bluetooth support on 6.8.0-55

Bug description:
  I'm running ubuntu 24.04 on a Dell XPS laptop
  kernel 6.8.0-45 works well

  When upgraded to 6.8.0-55 - there is seemingly no proper usb support
  (external devices don't work), no external monitor available,
  bluetooth is absent and touchpad works in a very basic mode.

  I'm not sure what is relevant to diagnose this problem.
