I have no connectivity and cannot use the interface at all. Booting the system using Debian stable, works. The NIC also works in Windows 10. I observed that Debian kernel 5.10 loads the firmware file rtl_nic/rtl8168e-3.fw, while ubuntu doesn't even attempt to (or does not report back) $ sudo mii-tool ens3 ens3: negotiated 1000baseT-FD flow-control, link ok $ ip link show dev ens3 3: ens3: <NO-CARRIER,BROADCAST,MULTICAST,UP> mtu 1500 qdisc fq_codel state DOWN mode DEFAULT group default qlen 1000 link/ether a0:2e:15:00:02:41 brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff altname enp2s0 $ sudo ethtool ens3 Settings for ens3: Supported ports: [ TP MII ] Supported link modes: 10baseT/Half 10baseT/Full 100baseT/Half 100baseT/Full 1000baseT/Half 1000baseT/Full Supported pause frame use: Symmetric Receive-only Supports auto-negotiation: Yes Supported FEC modes: Not reported Advertised link modes: 10baseT/Half 10baseT/Full 100baseT/Half 100baseT/Full 1000baseT/Half 1000baseT/Full Advertised pause frame use: Symmetric Receive-only Advertised auto-negotiation: Yes Advertised FEC modes: Not reported Speed: Unknown!
