The issue seems to be fixed today: my touchpad is now working, and
appears in cat /proc/bus/input/devices. I didn't do anything new
inbetween, so I can't explain why it's back to normal.

Title:
  My touchpad stopped working

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
I'm filing this bug report because my touchpad recently stopped
  working at all.

I executed this at at a terminal : cat /proc/bus/input/devices
but there was no touchpad in the list.

  I read this page (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingTouchpadDetection)
and found out it must be a bug related to the kernel.

I'm attaching the result of the cat /proc/bus/input/devices command.
