Sorry for the belated response. I meant the default GNOME desktop. I was trying to figure out it's a bug in userspace or kernel space.

No matter what I do, no "enter password" box pops up. The screen just stays black and the only thing I can do is to shut the computer down by holding down the power button. This happens regardless of whether an external monitor is connected. My apologies if I didn't report this correctly or left out anything important; I am just an end user and not an expert. Please let me know if I need to provide any further information. --- ProblemType: Bug ApportVersion: 2.20.9-0ubuntu7.7 Architecture: amd64 AudioDevicesInUse: USER PID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/controlC0: s 1354 F.... pulseaudio CurrentDesktop: XFCE DistroRelease: Ubuntu 18.04 InstallationDate: Installed on 2019-07-03 (48 days ago) InstallationMedia: Xubuntu 18.04.2 LTS "Bionic Beaver" - Release amd64 (20190210) MachineType: LENOVO 81F4 Package: linux (not installed) ProcFB: 0 inteldrmfb ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-5.0.0-25-generic root=UUID=a0988d83-0fbb-4905-9f48-3753f6ed52d1 ro quiet splash vt.handoff=1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 5.0.0-25.26~18.04.1-generic 5.0.18 RelatedPackageVersions: linux-restricted-modules-5.0.0-25-generic N/A linux-backports-modules-5.0.0-25-generic N/A linux-firmware 1.173.9 Tags: bionic Uname: Linux 5.0.0-25-generic x86_64 UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) UserGroups: adm cdrom dip lpadmin plugdev sambashare sudo _MarkForUpload: True dmi.bios.date: 10/26/2018 dmi.bios.vendor: LENOVO dmi.bios.version: 7SCN26WW dmi.board.asset.tag: NO Asset Tag dmi.board.name: LNVNB161216 dmi.board.vendor: LENOVO dmi.board.version: No DPK dmi.chassis.asset.tag: NO Asset Tag dmi.chassis.type: 10 dmi.chassis.vendor: LENOVO dmi.chassis.version: Lenovo ideapad 330S-14IKB dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnLENOVO:bvr7SCN26WW:bd10/26/2018:svnLENOVO:pn81F4:pvrLenovoideapad330S-14IKB:rvnLENOVO:rnLNVNB161216:rvrNoDPK:cvnLENOVO:ct10:cvrLenovoideapad330S-14IKB: dmi.product.family: ideapad 330S-14IKB dmi.product.name: 81F4 dmi.product.sku: LENOVO_MT_81F4_BU_idea_FM_ideapad 330S-14IKB dmi.product.version: Lenovo ideapad 330S-14IKB dmi.sys.vendor: LENOVO To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1840936/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~kernel-packages Post to : kernel-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~kernel-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
