Title:
EC2 instance CPU goes to 100% and locks

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Won't Fix

Bug description:
  I launch an 32 bit, instance-store, c1.medium server in eu-west-1
based from the official Ubuntu 8.04 LTS Hardy ami-beb993ca and install
  the following packages with apt-get...

  apache2
  php5
  php5-mysql
  php5-curl
  php5-cli
  imagemagick
  vsftpd
  xfsprogs
  postfix

...and also make sure all software is up to date with apt-get update
  && sudo apt-get upgrade

Then attach a 10GB EBS volume and use that to store the apache files
  for a PHP based website.

I redirect my web traffic to this instance and it uses around 40-50%
CPU and outgoing bandwidth is around 5Mbps

The instance runs fine for a few hours (varies from 2 to 4 hours in
tests) before the CPU suddenly climbs to 100% and the instance becomes
  unresponsive.

Rebooting it via the Amazon Management Console fixes everything for
  another few hours.

The output of uname -a is...

  Linux ip-10-235-21-236 2.6.24-10-xen #1 SMP Tue Sep 8 19:06:53 UTC
  2009 i686 GNU/Linux

Attached is the output of ec2-get-console-output of the locked
instance just after it was rebooted
