I believe it's not a hardware problem, since booting with 'nomodeset' works as expected. There were already two similar bugs, https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1749420 and https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1788308, but the fixes provided for those bugs did not work for my specific monitor. I'm running Ubuntu 18.04 with kernel linux-image-4.15.0-34-generic, installing linux-image-4.18.8 with UKUU didn't help. I attached the results of running sudo get-edid | parse-edid in a file named edid.txt sudo get-edid | edid-decode in a file named edid-decoded.txt cat /proc/version_signature in version.log sudo lspci -vnvn in lspci-vnvn.log.
