BenE, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com /daily-live/current/ .
If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p linux <replace-with-bug-number> Also, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: I recently installed the latest Ubuntu on a new NV59 laptop and everything works great except that it freezes about once a day. The freeze is completely random and unpredictable half the time happening during the night (I come back to a frozen black screensaver screen in the morning) but also often during the day when I'm surfing the web or doing something else. The computer is on AC power and is set never to go to sleep. The image displayed on screen seems to freeze to whatever was showing, the mouse cursor stops moving and ctrl-alt- backspace or ctrl-alt-F1 doesn't do anything. Sound seems to continue working for a while. It once happened while I was having a skype conversation and I was able to continue the conversation for a minute or so after the screen stopped responding.
