Karl Fogel, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com /daily-live/current/ .
If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p linux <replace-with-bug-number> Also, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Please do not test the daily kernel folder, but the one all the way at the bottom. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags: kernel-fixed-upstream kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested. For example: kernel-fixed-upstream-v3.11.1 This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description. As well, please remove the tag: needs-upstream-testing If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags: kernel-bug-exists-upstream kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER As well, please remove the tag: needs-upstream-testing Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results. Thank you for your understanding. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Triaged => Incomplete ** Attachment removed: "WifiSyslog.txt" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/558657/+attachment/2632582/+files/WifiSyslog.txt ** Attachment removed: "UdevLog.txt" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/558657/+attachment/2632581/+files/UdevLog.txt ** Attachment removed: "RfKill.txt" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/558657/+attachment/2632579/+files/RfKill.txt ** Attachment removed: "PulseSources.txt" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/558657/+attachment/2632578/+files/PulseSources.txt ** Attachment removed: "PulseSinks.txt" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/558657/+attachment/2632577/+files/PulseSinks.txt ** Attachment removed: "UdevDb.txt" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/558657/+attachment/2632580/+files/UdevDb.txt ** Attachment removed: "ProcModules.txt" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/558657/+attachment/2632576/+files/ProcModules.txt ** Attachment removed: "ProcCpuinfo.txt" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/558657/+attachment/2632573/+files/ProcCpuinfo.txt ** Attachment removed: "ProcInterrupts.txt" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/558657/+attachment/2632575/+files/ProcInterrupts.txt ** Attachment removed: "ProcEnviron.txt" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/558657/+attachment/2632574/+files/ProcEnviron.txt ** Attachment removed: "PciMultimedia.txt" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/558657/+attachment/2632572/+files/PciMultimedia.txt ** Attachment removed: "IwConfig.txt" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/558657/+attachment/2632569/+files/IwConfig.txt ** Attachment removed: "Lspci.txt" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/558657/+attachment/2632570/+files/Lspci.txt ** Attachment removed: "CurrentDmesg.txt" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/558657/+attachment/2632568/+files/CurrentDmesg.txt ** Attachment removed: "Card1.Codecs.codec.3.txt" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/558657/+attachment/2632567/+files/Card1.Codecs.codec.3.txt ** Attachment removed: "Card1.Codecs.codec.2.txt" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/558657/+attachment/2632566/+files/Card1.Codecs.codec.2.txt ** Attachment removed: "Card1.Codecs.codec.0.txt" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/558657/+attachment/2632564/+files/Card1.Codecs.codec.0.txt ** Attachment removed: "Card1.Codecs.codec.1.txt" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/558657/+attachment/2632565/+files/Card1.Codecs.codec.1.txt ** Attachment removed: "Card0.Amixer.values.txt" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/558657/+attachment/2632561/+files/Card0.Amixer.values.txt ** Attachment removed: "Card0.Codecs.codec.0.txt" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/558657/+attachment/2632562/+files/Card0.Codecs.codec.0.txt ** Attachment removed: "Card1.Amixer.values.txt" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/558657/+attachment/2632563/+files/Card1.Amixer.values.txt ** Attachment removed: "BootDmesg.txt" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/558657/+attachment/2632560/+files/BootDmesg.txt ** Attachment removed: "AplayDevices.txt" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/558657/+attachment/2632559/+files/AplayDevices.txt ** Attachment removed: "AlsaDevices.txt" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/558657/+attachment/2632558/+files/AlsaDevices.txt ** Attachment removed: "AcpiTables.txt" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/558657/+attachment/2632557/+files/AcpiTables.txt ** Attachment removed: "Lsusb.txt" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/558657/+attachment/2632571/+files/Lsusb.txt ** Tags removed: apport-collected precise running-unity staging -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/558657 Title: mouse usage causes Xorg CPU usage to spike, and mouse pointer becomes less responsive Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Status in “linux” source package in Lucid: Triaged Status in “xserver-xorg-video-nouveau” package in Fedora: Unknown Bug description: Binary package hint: xorg Over time, my mouse pointer becomes more and more erratic and unresponsive. It never becomes unusable, but it gets jerky and hard to use. If I run 'top', I can watch Xorg CPU usage spike in direct correlation to how much I move the mouse around (and the mouse performance gets worse while I'm doing this). If I wave the mouse pointer around a lot, CPU will reliably hit 100%, and the pointer will be far behind my physical gestures with the mouse (and will continue to move for a while after I stop moving the mouse). CPU climbs back down after I stop moving the mouse. When I first log in, everything is fine. This problem gets worse the longer I stay in the same X Session. I haven't tried logging out back to GDM and logging back in; if you need me to I can try that. Switching between windows / desktops is also increasingly sluggish. This is all on Ubuntu lucid (development branch).
