** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Expired -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/780625 Title: "acpi_backlight=vendor" needs to be present in kernel cmdline to have backlight working Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Expired Bug description: On my laptop I had to add "acpi_backlight=vendor" into kernel cmdline to get working backlight. This state is since beginning (10.04 + maverick kernels during uds-m). If I remove that argument then /sys/class/backlight/acpi_video0/ is created instead of 'asus_laptop' one and changing backlight by hardware keys works randomly - pressing BacklightUp does nothing or decrease or increase level (same with BacklightDown key).
