Jeremiah Njoroge, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .
If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p linux <replace-with-bug-number> Also, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Please do not test the daily folder, but the one all the way at the bottom. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags: kernel-fixed-upstream kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested. For example: kernel-fixed-upstream-v3.11-rc5 This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description. As well, please remove the tag: needs-upstream-testing If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags: kernel-bug-exists-upstream kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER As well, please remove the tag: needs-upstream-testing Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results. Thank you for your understanding. ** Tags removed: kernel-bug-exists-upstream ** Tags added: needs-full-computer-model needs-uptream-testing ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1006171 Title: BUG: unable to handle kernel paging request at 000000000000ff08; RIP: 0010:[<ffffffff81141a05>] [<ffffffff81141a05>] remove_vma+0x25/0x90 Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: with multiple tabs open on Chromium browser, doing a search in a Zimbra mail tab caused a kernel panic crash. messages in the kernel panic screen are as follows Bug: Unable to handle kernel paging request at 0000167df63734f7 Different kernel panic reported the following message Bug:Unable to handle kernel paging request at ffffffff8205ad7d attaching screenshot of the kernel panic ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04 Package: chromium-browser 18.0.1025.168~r134367-0ubuntu0.12.04.1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.2.0-25.40-generic 3.2.18 Uname: Linux 3.2.0-25-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.0.1-0ubuntu8 Architecture: amd64 Date: Tue May 29 16:35:39 2012 Desktop-Session: DESKTOP_SESSION = gnome-fallback XDG_CONFIG_DIRS = /etc/xdg/xdg-gnome-fallback:/etc/xdg XDG_DATA_DIRS = /usr/share/gnome-fallback:/usr/share/gnome:/usr/local/share/:/usr/share/ Env: MOZ_PLUGIN_PATH = None LD_LIBRARY_PATH = None ExecutablePath: /usr/lib/chromium-browser/chromium-browser ProcEnviron: SourcePackage: chromium-browser UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) XsessionErrors: (gnome-panel:1809): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: /build/buildd/glib2.0-2.32.1/./gobject/gsignal.c:2455: signal `size_request' is invalid for instance `0xda86c0' (gnome-control-center:3103): info-cc-panel-WARNING **: Unable to get graphics info: Failed to execute child process "glxinfo" (No such file or directory) (gnome-panel:1809): GLib-GIO-WARNING **: Missing callback called fullpath = /home/jeremiah/.config/menus/applications.menu chromium-default: CHROMIUM_FLAGS="" --- AlsaVersion: Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.24.
