You added .desktop file shortcuts to apps and put them in a folder, and added a
Folder View widget to your panel and configured it to show that folder*_YES_*,
and now
when you open the folder and click on the shortcuts, the app doesn't
open*_YES_*  and
instead the file opens in a text editor app?*_NO_. When I click on the
shortcuts nothing happens*.

*I tried a Folder View widget placed on Desktop pointing to a folder 
containing .pdf files; clicking on them do not have any effect. I can 
open the files only by choosing the program (Okular) from the menu that 
appears doing richt click on the mouse.*
