There was never a feature whereby auto-hide panels disappeared when you clicked
on them. It sounds like you're describing that your workaround for Bug 466343
has stopped working. But this is not really a bug; workarounds are not formally
supported. We need to figure out what problem is happening in Bug 466343 so you
don't feel the need to go looking for a workaround for it. So let's follow up
there.
Nick, your issue sounds subtly different and I would request that you submit a
new bug report for it. In that bug report, can you attach a screenshot or phone
photo of your whole desktop that shows all monitors and the position of the
problematic panel? Or even better, a phone video that shows the issue
happening. Thanks!
