My bug just got linked to this one. In my case, this issue started only after
serious flickering issues suddenly disappeared; somewhere around where kernel
6.0 showed up. All was great, until this freeze started. See
https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=31080 and Bug 461688 for my
observations. In a nutshell, when the panel froze, it only ever recovered
once. While frozen, there are zero responses to mouse events. The new clue for
me was that KDEconnect might have been the trigger on last night's freeze. The
amount of system activity does not seem to matter: very heavy or very light
activity. I think one occurred while the system was idling while I was
sleeping; another reason I'm watching KDEconnect -- my dogs going in/out their
doggy door causes security system alerts to my phone, then via KDEconnect to
the desktop where the notification window (outline only) appeared when the
panel froze... More info at above links. HTH
