That information exists in the dnf backend too, because that's AppStream data.
However, the AppStream data does *not* tell you whether the programs are
running, or whether they're critical to the system. Nor does it tell you
whether the update being pushed has been marked as one that requires a reboot
or relogin. That information is important for doing this right.
