As Jens Saak outlined, this problem affects X11 as well. There is no flickering
or transparency on X, but the diff view is not visible either, it's just black.
I initially did not notice this since I only tried Wayland and thought it's
very similar to the other Wayland-only issues I already had. This one
apparently is an exception, however.
