Thanks for your report!
1. a valid feature request, nothing to add
2. on a fresh install (or if you delete [instruction for linux]
~./config/kdenliverc, ~/.config/kdenlive-layoutsrc and
~/.config/kdenlive-appimagerc) "editing" is the default. If you just updated
there are might some leftovers of an old installation.
3. can you explain this point a bit more (maybe with a screenshot)? I don't
really understand what you want… (e.g. which text? the UI text, title clip
text,…)
