Kid3 does not do the tagging itself, it uses 3rd party libraries. The
".metadata_edit" string can be found in the sources of libFLAC, so I suppose
that this library is responsible for this behavior.
I would suggest that you use TagLib for FLAC files. Uncheck "OggFlacMetadata"
in the "Plugins" tab of the settings and make sure that "TaglibMetadata" is
checked. Then restart Kid3. Please check if the problem also happens when using
TagLib.
