Then I changed the Yakuake theme from Breeze to plastik and Legacy. No effect. I changed the Yakuake transparency setting too. No effect. In fact, looks like the transparency setting it is not working at all. It remains opaque even if it is set to 10%. Another settings that is not working is the background color. To make sure the settings were applied, I run yakuake in a terminal windows and close and re-run the program after each change and then, I notice it issues a warning message when starts.
