            Bug ID: 428450
Summary: Plasmashell hangs/crashes sporadically after monitor
standby if vsync is enabled (amdgpu)
           Product: plasmashell
           Version: 5.19.5
          Platform: Kubuntu Packages
                OS: Linux
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
          Assignee: k...@davidedmundson.co.uk
          Reporter: bruzzlee...@gmail.com
                CC: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: 1.0

SUMMARY
Plasmashell hangs/crashes sporadically after wakeup from monitor standby
(monitor power off) and needs to be restarted.
The problem could be traced back to the "vsync" options in the compositor
settings by trial and error. No log entries related to the issue could be
identified.
Setting vsync to "Never" prevents the "crash".

WORKAROUND:
Set vsync to "Never".
Enable the "TearFree" option in amdgpu configuration to prevent tearing.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Connect at least 2 monitors with a different standby and switch off
behaviour.
2. VSYNC to e.g. Automatic
3. sleep 1; xset dpms force standby
4. Wake up by keyboard or mouse after ~30 seconds

OBSERVED RESULT
Task bar and desktop (including widgets) do not appear. Wallpaper stays black.
KRunner still works.
Plasmashell restart required: kquitapp5 plasmashell && kstart5 plasmashell

EXPECTED RESULT
The same desktop environment / layout as before the standby.
