In the meantime (because those things usually take a long time to discuss and fix) we would like the traditional lock/unlock UI feature to be present again, even if it has to be activated by a configuration file through a setting that can be off by default, if that is the devs preference. We believe this feature is necessary for the users we deal with *while* the things we should file new bugs for are discussed and implemented. The effort to bring this feature back is probably low compared to all the UX improvements that are necessary to prevent all types of accidental desktop misconfigurations, which means that the time scales for doing one thing and the other are probably very different. I hope I have presented the case clearly. Hoping to receive a confirmation that this feature can be brought back for the timeline of Kubuntu 20.04.
