Hey Hans-Peter, et-al., I hear your frustration and understand the desire to pull the ripcord to escape the KDE/Wayland debacle. Wanting a Wayback Machine (Peabody's Improbable History) journey to when the adults were still in the KDE room? The Trinity Desktop Environment (TDE), born as a independent fork of KDE 3.5 in 2010. https://trinitydesktop.org 2025.11.09: TDE R14.1.5 released! TDE reclaims KDE in the glory days, before the eyecandy-bloat and regression du jour De-Vo. My 2-head workstation and the rest of our Gentoo-based servers and desktops have been ever so happy with TDE. So yeah, bailing to a viable alternative is reasonable and easy- sorted in less than an hour. BTW, TDE/TQt and KDE/Qt co-exist fine within the same boxen, if one desires such.
