Yeah, it's hard to know. I have had some variation of this issue for years. In
the past I have definitely had the "black screen with cursor" that could, at
least sometimes, be worked around by dropping to a terminal and restarting
plasma shell or some other magic command. But, at some point it morphed into,
"black screen with no other option but to reboot". I was using Gentoo with
OpenRC for ages. I thought maybe it was because of an OpenRC quirk or hidden
need for systemd, so I tried Gentoo with systemd. No, luck. Then tried Kubuntu,
no luck. And have settled on Arch for the last several months with no luck. I
would open another bug report, but I am not encouraged that it would do any
good.
