I see that I am guilty of a bit of woolly-mindedness. ;-( I was also guilty of conflating KDEWallet with Klipper; simply because the problem appears to manifest itself only when copying from KDEWallet (see https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=505596#c14 above). Anyway to translate; the package is the Menu Item for launching KDEWallet, the config is the Menu Item for launching the KDEWallet configuration tool and the icon is the klipper icon in the Task Bar. It all came OK after a reboot, apart from the lack of ~/.config/klipperrc, which I feel may be significant.
