If digiKam is slow both when starting with only 30,000 images and when
displaying them, check your machine.
Note that digiKam must first collect the metadata of the 30,000 images, which
can take a long time. Remove digiKam and Exiftool from your antivirus program's
monitoring. Otherwise, we need a DebugView log from digiKam's startup, as
described here for Windows:
