I used to have problems with loading time on local systems. If it is a Windows
system, I can personally recommend a more recent version. By updating from Win
10 to Win 11 I was able to reduce the loading time to less than 1 second in
most cases. There are no load differences to other image viewers. SMB access is
a different story.
