So, is there a way to generate a BibTexKey of a form (say [author][year][doi]) if the entry has a DOI, and use another form (say [author][year][journal][firstpage]) if the entry doesn't have a DOI?

Well, some publishers use (repeat) the DOI as the bibtexkey when you export the refrence data of the paper. In Preferences you shoud find the section bibtex generator (or a similar name) where the bibtexkey is defined as [author][year]. You can use then the DOI but as you say, maybe is not the best choice even if not all your references get a DOI field, if you want to change the [author][year] sistem, you can find another more general way to get the bibtexkeys automatically. --------------------------------------------------- [http://5.cim.co.cu/cim.gif]
