That was a firewall issue. I got the software out of SVN, sneakernetted it
onto the PC where the build is run, and tried to add the source location for
the plexus code. This behaved oddly: the source appeared for a fraction of a
second and then disappeared. Somehow Eclipse found it wanting. Perhaps, the
source I got did not match the code that maven is running with?
