Yes, there are several ways to do this because the information provided with
Maven 2.x that allow us to do this. Essentially we can proxy out Maven Central
as a Maven 1.x repository using Nexus. We really see very little Maven 1.x use
anymore but we do provide support at the repository level for proxying. Using
Apache rewrite rules that people can use or using a repository manager like
Nexus. As an open source project we found the more sane solution the proxying
solution. Converting and validating Maven 1. x repositories on a
daily/weekly/monthly basis is too hard.
