Rebased on master and squashed. The earlier requests are already in (`MAVEN_TEMPFILE_KEEP` with `@Config` and `@since`, no `@Nonnull` on void methods, static logger, best-effort `deleteTree`, tests for the directory overloads and the cleanup participant).
