Closing: removing items from the caller's set is intentional. `filterDependencies()` takes ignored dependencies out of the sets that are then logged as warnings, so without that removal every ignored dependency is reported twice and trips `failOnWarning`. https://github.com/apache/maven-dependency-plugin/pull/1709 tried it and failed the `analyze` IT, and its author withdrew it.
