MNG-4955 states that this is a remnant from fixing the early days of metadata files (MNG-4452). It's still unclear to me what this exactly fixed even though there is a clear explanation for it. I can't fathom why it wouldn't have without this fix. Maybe if the metadata for `SNAPSHOT<myclassifier>:jar` was missing all-together then falling back to whatever repo with the latest `SNAPSHOT` key would function as a fallback, but that's not the described use case. -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
