There's a maven-ejb3-plugin in the sandbox, for quite some time now, which created an ejb3 archive (.ejb3). Since the specs have changed I see no reason to keep the maven-ejb3-plugin in the sandbox. +1 to apply the patch and possibly release a SNAPSHOT.
