Offtopic, but the way I resolved this is to remove the directory
~/.m2/repository/org/apache/maven/plugins/maven-site-plugin/2.0-beta-4/
Run maven again, and it should download a fresh copy (if you have resolved the
internet connection issue e.g. setup the proxy correctly)
