Should we maybe merge this branch to main and wait for Mike's benchmarks. If we backport, we need to make sure people customizing IndexInputs don't fail too worse or we need to add a documented way (like remove custom imp of method XY in IndexInput) to make code work. I have seen on mailing list that there are plans to relaese 10.3, so maybe let's give this a try on main (we can revert easily). -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
