Thank you for acknowledging that our extended RaBitQ method proposes the idea of exploring different scalar quantization parameters on a per-vector basis for the first time and OSQ adopts this idea. OSQ differs from extended RaBitQ (which is a prior art before OSQ) in the detailed way of trying different parameters. Good to know that Elastic will provide a reference to our extended RaBitQ method in the code. We hope that proper acknowledgement of extended RaBitQ’s contribution of exploring different scalar quantization parameters on a per-vector basis will be provided when introducing OSQ in other channels (e.g., tweets, blogs and press releases) as well. We welcome benchmarks of comparing our extended RaBitQ and OSQ by Elastic and other parties. These will help to see whether the changes made by OSQ on extended RaBitQ would bring true improvement on the space-accuracy trade-off. We hope that the comparison will be objective, comprehensive, and insightful. For the community’s information, our codes of extended RaBitQ are fully open-source (https://github.com/VectorDB-NTU/Extended-RaBitQ). We will be happy to see that the community and industry teams will use the algorithms and even improve them further. -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
