Thanks all for the feedback. It seems that we are converging on the improvement that this PR brings. I personally think that even besides performance, allowing to using a single executor makes things much simpler from a user perspective. I can think of the following next steps: 1) Update lucene-util to create a single execute, from which search is called, that is also provided to IndexSearcher as a constructor argument, to be merged once this PR is in 2) Review and merge this PR, I will take care of that.
