The reason why the backwards compatibility test ate failing is easy. We modified the Lucene90 codec and not created a new one. The new code fails to read an index created with Lucene 9.0 or later. As we changed format we need a new codec. In my previous brach on which this is based on I just changed Lucene 9.0 codec. I would ignore this. If Lucene core tests pass were fine for now.
