Mark Robert Miller commented on SOLR-14788: ------------------------------------------- I don’t mean to imply you are TRYING to compete with me, and the ref branch offers a lot to steal that does not involve the overseer whatsoever. The simple fact is, it has become very difficult to make changes that will not die on my branch because they will not hold up in comparison. When I talk about competition, what I mean is that if you take what you are doing and try to plug it into what I have as replacement, the competition is to not get rejected for slowing things down, not supporting features, etc etc. In my book, if you are trying or not trying but are still competing with me, than you are working with me. God please, more people compete. It’s hard enough to even convince them of extremely basic stuff about where this system stands, anyone who actually attempts to invest in this system will quickly learn it’s a great playground of building blocks and also completely misguided and misbehaved and oh my good don’t get me started. So look, if you can say the Overseer just needs to go, you are ahead of the game. But if anyone that wants to make large changes or improvements (YES) they will have to compete with the defenses Ive built up, whether they are working with me or against me. Though honestly, I could do with more competers and fewer delusions that what we have is reasonable anymore. > Solr: The Next Big Thing > ------------------------ > > Key: SOLR-14788 > URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/SOLR-14788 > Project: Solr > Issue Type: Task > Reporter: Mark Robert Miller > Assignee: Mark Robert Miller > Priority: Critical > > h3. > [!https://www.unicode.org/consortium/aacimg/1F46E.png!|https://www.unicode.org/consortium/adopted-characters.html#b1F46E]{color:#00875a}*The > Policeman is on duty!*{color} > {quote}_{color:#de350b}*When The Policeman is on duty, sit back, relax, and > have some fun.
