Ishan Chattopadhyaya commented on SOLR-14688: --------------------------------------------- bq. I'm just learning about the the package management, so this may be a dumb question, but what would be the process for a Solr rolling upgrade? Thanks for asking, Tomas. I'll work out an example and add proper user documentation around this. Beyond some very basic testing, I haven't tested all possible edge case scenarios for rolling upgrade, and I shall test it more before commenting on how properly it is working currently. However, in a nutshell, the idea is: # that if a package supports "solr 8" and rolling upgrade happens from 8.5 to 8.6, no change to package. # if a package supports "solr 8.5", then the user should install a latter version of the package which supports "solr 8.6" or "solr 8.6 - 9" *before* performing the upgrade. > First party package implementation design > ----------------------------------------- > > Key: SOLR-14688 > URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/SOLR-14688 > Project: Solr > Issue Type: Improvement > Reporter: Noble Paul > Priority: Major > Labels: package, packagemanager > > Here's the design document for first party packages: > https://docs.google.com/document/d/1n7gB2JAdZhlJKFrCd4Txcw4HDkdk7hlULyAZBS-wXrE/edit?usp=sharing > Put differently, this is about package-ifying our "contribs". -- This message was sent by Atlassian Jira (v8.3.4#803005) --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: issues-unsubscr...@lucene.apache.org For additional commands, e-mail: issues-h...@lucene.apache.org
