I agree. But this issue is now focused on deprecating it, while the removal
will happen in some later set of commits? If so, IMO we should modify this
issue so it's clear that it's only for the deprecation and file a new issue for
the full code/docs removal. Or file a new one for the deprecation that's a
blocker, I don't care which - my point is only that if deprecation and removal
happen separately, I think this is major enough that we should have 2 issues so
there is no confusion.
