I opened [https://github.com/apache/lucene-solr/pull/1232] to illustrate what I 
mean.  Building on that, you can add your delimited boosts by writing a 
TokenFilter that takes the `|num` part of your term and instead of putting it 
into a PayloadAttribute puts it into a BoostAttribute, and immediately term 
queries and synonym queries will get boosted correctly.
