Review Comment:
   I usually like to have test cases that are a bit more realistic. You _could_ 
partition by the ID but it's uncommon and I would argue it's better to have 
groups of records like real partitions. Single-record partitions leaves this 
open to bugs when there are multiple records per data file. For instance, what 
if there is a record reuse bug that only affects these metadata columns?
