@zeroshade, I added a test case, but just for manifest lists. Let me know what you think. This test would fail on main. If one removes the newly added options (and let it use the global default cache) or even change the options to use a global module-specific cache then the test case fails -- the last assertion will produce `"An error is expected but got nil."` Does this test seem reasonable?
