   This 
[chnage](https://github.com/apache/iceberg/pull/10288#discussion_r1639580087) 
uses 
`org.apache.iceberg.types.Conversions#toByteBuffer(org.apache.iceberg.types.Type.TypeID,
 java.lang.Object)` to compute the ndv. The method doesnt support non-primitive 
types. I have added a validation check.

Review Comment:
   I derived the logic from [Datasketches 
example](https://datasketches.apache.org/docs/Theta/ThetaSparkExample.html). To 
use the TypedImperativeAggregate shouldn't be a expression natively provided by 
Spark?
   Also can this be taken as improvement in a subsequent PR?
