You should get more messages in the syslog from saslauthd. Can you double check?
I double checked. This is definitely all I'm getting. I have a few more of the first two lines (the retrying authentication) but I think that that's from trying it a few times.
OK. You need to setup syslog severity level for auth facility to debug. This will give you a few more messages in the syslog.
Can you debug your ldap server and what is going on?
