You might be able to distill the information from the tracer logs, but
that would mean a full protocol dump to disk of each session, which does
not help the speed of your mailserver.
Indeed, this is the best option the current code has.
Instrumenting various parts of the code is vaguely interesting, for
example, it would be useful to be able to do statistics on how often
various commands are issued, etc.
