Indeed, this is the best option the current code has.


Instrumenting various parts of the code is vaguely interesting, for
example, it would be useful to be able to do statistics on how often
various commands are issued, etc.


It might also be interesting to see how long a mail delivery takes, and how long time is taken to process stuff like sieve/authentication etc .. Offcourse, those would all be feature requests ;)
